Pastor Anthony Nixon Sr.

Pastor Anthony Nixon Sr.

Rev. Anthony Nixon Sr. is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. At the age of 6 years old he was baptized by the late Rev. Dr. William Jordan and at the tender age of 15 years old Rev. Nixon answered his calling into the ministry to preach.

Even though that was a calling by God that he personally did not want, Rev. Nixon felt a burning on the inside he knew he had no other choice but to accept it.

In 1985 he was appointed Associate Pastor of Blessed Mother of Charity Church/Outreach Ministry and in 1988 he was ordained into the ministry in the state of Louisiana. Under the leadership of Rev. L.H. Mitchell, in 1991 Rev. Nixon was called to serve the Blessed Mother of Charity Church/Outreach Ministry as Senior Pastor.

Under the inspirational leadership of Pastor Nixon, Blessed Mother continued to make major decisions in their studies, development, and growth. In 1994 Blessed Mother purchased and relocated to a new building due to its continuing growth.

In October of 1999, Rev. Nixon along with his wife Evangelist Melissa and their children moved to Las Vegas, NV where he became an Associate Minister at Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Nathaniel Whitney, and then went on to serve under Dr. Welton T. Smith III.

On June 11, 2018, Rev. Nixon accepted God’s new divine assignment as the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church family confirmed God’s appointment and called him as the church fourth Pastor. With a sincere desire to administer the church according to the Word of God, it is Pastor Nixon’s highest and greatest honor to be called by God knowing it is Him that has gifted and commissioned him to preach and teach nothing but the gospel of Jesus Christ. He realize that by following God, it has led him to the place and position he’s in now.

As a man after God’s own heart, the message and ministry of Pastor Nixon is best described in Isaiah 61:1-2a, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Pastor Nixon is on assignment daily to save the lost at any cost, to bless and to be a blessing to God’s people. His daily prayer is to hear God’s voice for direction in all that he does to fulfill God’s purpose in his life and the life of others. His passion and heart’s desire is to proclaim the word, share the gospel and care for God’s flock and because of that desire and passion for God’s people, it has been confirmed by those who know him best that it illuminates within and through him.

In addition to pastoring and teaching, Pastor Nixon holds the position of Moderator for Pride of the West District Baptist Association and Area Coordinator for the WHW Expository Preaching & Teaching Conference held in Los Angeles, CA yearly. Because Rev. Nixon has a passion to protect and serve, he is also affiliated with the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Chaplin Department.

Pastor Nixon has attended Greater St. Stephen College and Theological Seminary, New Orleans, LA. Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA and Faith International University, Tacoma, WA where he received his Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Theology.
